A budgeting app for iOS, Android and the web

Give every dollar an envelope.

Tally syncs with your bank, drops each purchase into the envelope you set for it, and reminds you before bills are due. You always know what's left for groceries, before you're at the till.

The Free plan is $0, for as long as you use it.

Four habits, kept for you.

Budgeting usually fails at the boring parts: typing in receipts, remembering due dates, and agreeing on numbers at home. Tally does those parts.

  • Bank sync

Link your checking, savings and cards once. New transactions show up on their own, so the numbers in Tally match the numbers at your bank.

    Automaticno receipts to type
  • Envelope budgets

Split each paycheck into categories like rent, groceries and fun. Spend from an envelope and its balance drops. When it's empty, you'll know.

  • Bill reminders

Tally spots your recurring bills and nudges you a few days before each one is due, with a note on whether the money is already set aside.

  • Shared budgets

Run one budget for the whole household. Everyone sees the same envelopes, and every purchase shows who made it.

Payday, then a plan.

The envelope method is old and it works: before you spend, decide what each dollar is for. Try it with this example paycheck.

  1. 1Money lands in "Left to assign".
  2. 2Assign it to envelopes until it reaches $0.
  3. 3Spend from envelopes. Tally keeps the count.

    Budget together, without the spreadsheet.

Invite the people you share a home with. You plan the month together, and everyone's spending lands in the same envelopes as it happens.

    Same numbers, every phone

A purchase on one card updates the envelope for everyone in a few moments.

    Bills that don't sneak up

Reminders go to the whole household, so nobody pays twice and nobody forgets.

    Fair questions.

Can Tally move money out of my bank account?

No. Tally reads your transactions so it can sort them into envelopes. It can't make payments or transfers.

Do I have to link a bank to use it?

No. You can add spending by hand and link an account later. Bank sync just saves you the typing.

What happens when an envelope runs out?

Tally shows it in red and lets you move money over from another envelope. Your plan bends; it doesn't break.

How does a shared budget work on the Family plan?

You invite people by email. Everyone shares the household envelopes, and each person can keep personal envelopes only they can see.

Next payday, give it a plan.

Set up your first envelopes in an evening. Tally keeps count after that.
