TallyBeing a budget for every dollar
The personal budgeting app

Give every dollar a place to live.

Tally syncs with your bank, sorts each purchase into the envelope it belongs to, and reminds you before a bill comes due — so the month reads like a ledger you actually understand.

Chapter IIOn keeping accounts

An old method, kept for a new century.

Our grandparents budgeted with envelopes: cash for groceries in one, rent in another, and when an envelope was empty, that was that. Tally keeps the discipline and drops the paper. Your bank feeds the ledger, the envelopes do the arithmetic, and you decide where each dollar goes before it goes anywhere at all.

Four features do the work. None of them asks you to become an accountant.

“A budget is just a plan you can see.”

Index of features§ 1 – § 4
§1
Bank sync

Your accounts, already entered.

Connect your bank accounts and Tally pulls in each transaction for you. No typing in receipts or importing spreadsheets.

§2
Envelope budgets

A category for every dollar.

Fill an envelope for each part of life: groceries, rent, the trip in spring. Spend from it, watch it empty, and move money between envelopes when plans change.

§3
Bill reminders

Bills, noted before they’re due.

Tally learns when your bills recur and reminds you ahead of time, and it tells you whether the envelope has enough set aside.

§4
Shared budgets

One ledger for the household.

Invite a partner or housemate to the same budget. Everyone sees the same envelopes and the same balances, so nobody has to ask who paid for what.

Chapter IIIIn three movements

Begin on a Sunday. Settled by supper.

  1. Connect your accounts

Link your bank and your recent transactions show up in the ledger.

  2. Fill your envelopes

Give your income a job, envelope by envelope, until nothing is left unassigned.

  3. Spend with a clear view

Each purchase comes out of its envelope. Reminders keep the bills in sight.
