How it works

Three steps. Then it mostly runs itself.

Tally does the bookkeeping. You make the handful of decisions that actually matter.

Connect your bank

Link checking, savings and cards in a few taps. New transactions show up on their own, so you never type in a receipt again.

Fill your envelopes

Split this month’s income into envelopes like Rent, Groceries and Fun. Every dollar gets a place before you spend it.

Spend with a straight face

Tally sorts each purchase into its envelope and shows what’s left. If something runs low, you’ll know while it’s still fixable.

Features

Built for the way money actually moves.

Envelope budgets

Every category gets its own envelope.

Give Groceries $520 and that’s the whole conversation. When an envelope runs thin, slide money over from one with room to spare. No spreadsheets, no guilt.

  • Purchases sort themselves into the right envelope
  • Move money between envelopes with one drag
  • Leftovers roll into next month, or into savings
Bill reminders

Bills show up before they show up.

Tally spots your recurring bills and reminds you a few days ahead. It also checks whether the money is actually there, so a due date never turns into an overdraft.

  • Recurring bills detected from your transactions
  • Reminders on your phone, your schedule
  • A heads-up when a bill isn’t covered yet
Shared budgets

One budget for the whole household.

Invite a partner or roommates and budget together in real time. Share the envelopes you split, like rent and groceries, and keep your personal ones to yourself.

  • Everyone sees the same numbers, live
  • Shared and private envelopes side by side
  • See who spent what without asking
Pricing

Questions

The things people ask first.

What is envelope budgeting?

It’s the old cash-in-envelopes method, minus the envelopes. You decide up front how much goes to each category, and you spend from those amounts. When one is empty, you either wait or move money from another.

Can Tally move money in my bank account?

No. Tally reads your transactions so it can sort them into envelopes. Envelopes are a plan for your money, not separate accounts, so nothing ever leaves your bank because of Tally.

Can I switch between phone and computer?

Yes. Tally runs on iOS, Android and the web, and your budget stays in sync across all of them. Plan on the big screen, check envelopes on the go.

How does sharing work on Family?

Invite up to five other people to your household. You pick which envelopes are shared; everything else stays private to whoever owns it.
