What's inside

An old method that works, without the paper envelopes.

Envelope budgeting is simple: money goes into a pot before you spend it, and when a pot is empty you stop or move money over. Tally keeps the pots topped up and the totals honest.

Bank sync

Your transactions show up on their own.

Connect your checking, savings and credit cards. Tally pulls in new transactions and files them into the right envelope, so you don't spend Sunday night typing receipts.

Envelopes

Every category gets its own envelope.

Fill envelopes when you get paid. Spending takes money out. If one runs dry, move money from another and the totals update right away. Try it below.

Bill reminders

Know a bill is coming before it lands.

Tally spots recurring bills and nudges you a few days ahead. It also checks the envelope behind each bill, so you know whether the money is already set aside.

Households

One budget for everyone under the roof.

Invite a partner or roommate to a shared budget. Everyone sees the same envelopes and who spent what, so nobody has to ask how much is left for groceries.

Questions

Before you start.

What is envelope budgeting?

You split your income into categories, or envelopes, before you spend it. Each purchase comes out of an envelope. When one is empty you either stop spending in that category or move money from another one.

Do I have to connect my bank?

No. The Free plan works with transactions you enter yourself. Plus and Family add automatic bank sync if you want it.

How does a shared budget work?

On Family, you invite people into a household budget. Everyone sees the same shared envelopes and bills and can keep their own personal envelopes too.

Can I switch plans later?

Yes. Upgrade, downgrade or cancel from settings on any device. Your envelopes and history stay put.

Fill your first envelope tonight.

It takes about as long as making tea. The Free plan stays free.
