Features

The parts of budgeting that are tedious, handled.

Tally does four things: imports transactions, groups them into budgets you set, tracks what's due, and keeps everyone in a household on the same numbers.

Bank account sync

Connect checking, savings and credit card accounts. New transactions appear in Tally without manual entry.

  • Multiple accounts in one view
  • Transactions categorised by rules you set
  • Manual accounts for cash

Envelope budgets

Give each category a fixed amount for the month. When an envelope runs low, you see it before you overspend.

  • Unlimited categories
  • Roll unused money into next month
  • Move funds between envelopes

Bill reminders

Add recurring bills once. Tally notifies you ahead of each due date and shows which envelope covers it.

  • Reminder timing you choose
  • Monthly calendar of upcoming bills
  • Marked paid when the payment syncs

Shared household budgets

Invite a partner or family member to the same budget. Everyone sees the same envelopes and balances.

  • Each member uses their own login
  • Choose which accounts to share
  • Activity shows who changed what

iOS, Android and web

Use the phone app day to day and the web app for monthly planning. Changes appear on every device.

  • Native apps for iOS and Android
  • Full-featured web app
  • One account across devices

Monthly reports

Compare what you planned with what you spent, by category and by month, in plain tables.

  • Budget vs. actual by envelope
  • Spending trends over time
  • CSV export
How it works

Set up once, then check in a few minutes a week.

Step 1

Connect your accounts

Link the bank and card accounts you use. Tally imports recent transactions so you start with real numbers.

Step 2

Fill your envelopes

Assign this month's income to categories until "To assign" reaches zero. Add your recurring bills.

Step 3

Spend and adjust

Transactions land in their envelopes automatically. Move money between envelopes when plans change.

Pricing

Three plans. Start free, upgrade when you need to.

Prices in US dollars, billed monthly. Change or cancel your plan at any time from settings.

FAQ

Common questions

Something else? Contact support.

What is envelope budgeting?
You divide your income into categories ("envelopes") at the start of the month. Spending comes out of the matching envelope, so you can see what's left in each before you buy.
Can Tally move money in my bank account?
No. Tally reads balances and transactions to keep your budget current. It does not initiate payments or transfers.
How does a shared household budget work?
On the Family plan, the budget owner invites members by email. Each person signs in with their own account and sees the same envelopes, bills and balances.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrades apply immediately. Downgrades apply at the end of your current billing month, and your data is kept.
